Girl & Oni

As you can easily tell, this piece was largely inspired by Zeen Chin's "artistic flair," as Ross Tran would put it. Iconic elements in Zeen Chins works include: makeup, oni tattoos, traditional Japanese clothing, oni masks and little oni goblin characters. His execution on these elements are so unique that I wanted to have my own take on them.

Zeen mostly draws without line-art, so because my piece does have line-art, I referenced Wenjuinn Png's colouring style instead for an easier reference guide.

The little oni goblin was actually a last minute idea but I'm happy with how his mask turned out and the green and yellow hues in his complexion. Throughout the piece I paid close attention to my brush blending, with the intent of my brush strokes still being visible in the frabric and mask, but smooth on the skin.

This piece was experimental, took too long.
